#TweetUpAlgonquin Scheduled June 22

Area community members are invited to meet IRL at Cafe Firefly from 6 to 8 p.m.

Ready to meet IRL? All the tweeps out there can tell you that acronym stands for “In Real Life” and that is just what we are about to do!

Algonquin Patch (@AlgonquinPatch) is teaming up with local social media guru April M. Williams (@AprilMWilliams) to host a local Tweetup!

The IRL meeting will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, at Café Firefly, 301 S. Main St., downtown Algonquin.

Williams, who teaches an Internet marketing series at the Shah Center at McHenry County College, will deliver a short presentation on social networking and what it means for you.

There will be some cool prizes, so be sure to bring your business card so that you can win some cool Patch gear and gift cards.

Dress is casual (of course!) and there will be food and drinks available for purchase, including a special #TweetupAlgonquin drink and cupcake (dark chocolate with coconut lime frosting, yum yum!).

What is a tweetup, you may ask?

Simply put, it is an in-person networking event for those who already use Twitter or those who want to learn more about it!

No clue what Twitter is but still want to come anyway? Yes! This event is open to all members of the community!

Parking is available on Washington Street and in the parking lot across the street on the Congregational Church, off South Harrison Street.

See you Wednesday!
