Traffic Alert: Overnight Closures This Week on Barrington Road's I-90 Ramps

Ramps will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. each day.

The exit ramp from the westbound Jane Addams Memorial Tollway (Interstate 90) to southbound Barrington Road and the eastbound entrance ramp from southbound Barrington Road will close nightly this week for pavement rehabilitation work as part of the I-90 Roadway and Bridge Rehabilitation Project between the Elgin Toll Plaza and Barrington Road.

The ramp closures are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. Sunday, July 24, and continue nightly through Friday, July 29. Ramps will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. each day. No detour will be posted. Traffic will be able to use either the Roselle Road interchange three miles to the east or the Route 59 interchange three miles to the west while the closures are in place.

Crews will be milling the asphalt surface on the ramps and completing concrete patches as needed.  When that work is complete, the ramps will be resurfaced.  All work is being done during overnight hours to minimize the impact to traffic.

The Illinois State Toll Highway Authority is resurfacing the 50-year-old section of I-90 between U.S. Route 20 and Genoa Road and between the Elgin Toll Plaza and Barrington Road to provide a new, smooth surface and extend the life of the roadway.  Roadway improvements also include rehabilitation of 25 bridge structures on I-90.  Work is scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
