Splash Pad Opens Hour Early Through Weekend

The village of Lake in the Hills will keep the Sunset Park splash pad open earlier throughout the weekend.

It's hot. Really hot.

And it's only expected to get hotter over the next couple days.

To hopefully help some cool off, the village of Lake in the Hills will be opening its Sunset Park splash pad an hour earlier starting Wednesday.

The splash pad will operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with those hours continuing through the weekend, Trudy Wakemen, director of parks and recreation for the village of LITH, told Patch Tuesday afternoon.

The village is also looking at moving some of its outdoor parks and rec programs inside Wednesday when temperatures are predicted to reach a sweltering 95 degrees with heat indexes topping off at 110 degrees.

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat warning for 7 a.m. Wednesday through 4 p.m. Friday.
