UPDATE: Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch through 8 p.m. Wednesday.

A severe thunderstorm warning is now in effect for much of McHenry County, according to the National Weather Service website. 

At 8:34 p.m., the National Weather Service reported a "line of scattered severe thunderstorms developing along the Wisconsin border." That line of storms was moving southeast at 15 mph. 

A second line of severe thunderstorms is expected to move rapidly east across Lake and McHenry counties as well, according to the NWS.

Both lines of storms could produce winds in excess of 60 mph. 

The NWS encourages residents to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of your home or business.
