Rain and More Rain in Algonquin, LITH Forecast

A flood warning is in affect for a portion of the Fox River in McHenry and Kane counties.

Rain, rain go away. 

The McHenry County area is expected to see plenty of April showers in the coming days. Rain—and some snow—is in the forecast in the coming days, according to the National Weather Service.

Today, showers are likely before 11 a.m. and are expected to start up again tonight. Cloudy skies and high of 47 degrees is in the forecast. A flood warning is also currently in effect for he Fox River at the Algonquin tailwater in McHenry and Kane counties.

"Widespread rainfall amounts of one to two inches will result in significant rises...with the potential for reaching flood stage," according to the National Weather Service. 

On Friday, there is a slight chance of sprinkles and flurries between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. followed by sprinkles in the afternoon. It will be windy and a high near 44 degrees is in the forecast.

We may get some reprieve from the rain on Saturday. Mostly cloudy skies and a high of 46 degrees is in the forecast. 

But the rain could be back again on Sunday and then a chance of rain and thunderstorms is currently in the forecast for Monday through Wednesday. Here is a more detailed look at the forecast for Lake in the Hills Sunday through Wednesday: 

  • Sunday: There will be a slight chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 62 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms are also possible Sunday night. 
  • Monday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day and night. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 55.
  • Tuesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms during the day and night. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 49.
  • Wednesday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54.
