Police Investigate SUV That Hit Motorcyle Rider

Algonquin police say there were three motorcycle accidents this week.

Algonquin police are investigating a report of a hit and run that happened over the weekend. The accident occured at 1:40 a.m., July 30, at the corner of Algonquin Road and Highland Avenue, when a dark-colored SUV, possibly a Jeep, hit a man on a Yamaha motorcycle, said Sgt. Jeff Sutrick.

The motorcycle driver, Benjamin Benson, 20, of Algonquin, was taken to Sherman Hospital in Elgin. He has been released from the hospital, Sutrick said. Police could not provide specific information on his injuries.

Police are investigating the accident. Anyone with information can call the at 847-658-4531.

Sutrick said the accident was the first of three motorcycle accidents this week.

The third accident occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Police are expected to release details of that accident later today.

Sutrick said all three riders were not wearing helmets.
