Places to Escape the Heat in Algonquin

Thousands of residents are still without power, here are some places to take refuge.

On Monday, the village of Algonquin did not open any cooling centers.

“The areas around the river are worse off, but overall the village is in good shape,” said Michael Kumbera, management assistant for the village.

Neither Kane nor McHenry counties opened any cooling centers on Monday, as both offices of emergency management said that is a decision made by the municipalities.
