Penny Pancake Day to Raise Money for Food Pantry

The Colonial Cafe will be selling pancakes for a penny each to help support the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry's capital campaign.

Penny Pancake Day is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday at Colonial Cafe, 2555 Bunker Hill Road, Algonquin, according to Kathy McCoy of the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills food pantry's fundraising committee.

Guests who dine in and purchase a beverage will be able to buy pancakes for a penny apiece, McCoy said. Donations will be accepted for the food pantry's capital campaign fund to pay for renovations at the new location.

"We will have volunteers located out front accepting donations for the new building," McCoy wrote in an email.
