Patch Passport: Treasure Hunt

The Friday Patch Passport shows you where you can find trinkets in your town. Get out and explore the unique local shops and all they have to offer.

With tie-dyed pants, a crochet vest and feather extensions in her hair, Funky Munky sales associate Peggy Galle understands the allure of the retro fashions and accessories sold in her daughter’s store.

With peace signs on everything from moccasins to purses and jewelry and tie-dyed baby onesies, dresses, hats, T-shirts and more filling the store, located at 323 N. Randall Road, styles of the ‘60s prevail at .

Owner Jodi Galle started the store on a cart at Randhurst Mall, Peggy Galle said, eventually renting space in Spring Hill Mall and then moving the shop to Lake in the Hills in 2002.

 Other unique items in the shop include skirts made entirely of ties, car seatbelts made into wearable belts, wallets, headbands, and a variety of silver jewelry.

Screened T-shirts feature classic rockers like Janis Joplin and The Beatles along with television faces of the ‘60s like Gumby, Batman, Charlie Tuna and Twinkie the Kid.

Store hours are Monday through Friday from noon until 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.

New To You Offers Resale Items

 At , customers will find more than the typical worn, resale furniture and home accessories.

Upscale, gently used items are all owner Beverly DeGreve carries in her shop located at 561 Jennings Drive. "

It’s all very recent furniture – upscale,’’ DeGreve said.

 The 2,500-square-foot space is set up with vignettes of  various living spaces, like a dining room, a child’s room and.

Aside from tables, chairs, dressers, wicker furniture and other pieces, there are plenty of accessories such as pictures, lamps, candle holders and floral arrangements. DeGreve buys most of her stock from people who are getting rid of furniture when moving out of their homes.

"We are living in a green society,’’ DeGreve said of buying quality resale items.
