It’s summertime, and the kids are restless.

Take advantage of your time together and take them out for some Kid-Friendly Fun. Check one of these hot spots in the town to start your summer adventure.

Baseball is America's favorite summer past time, and Player's Choice Academy in Lake in the Hills has all the ammenities to help aspiring sluggers perfect their swing, pitch or catching this season.

The indoor facility offers batting cages, indoor basketball court, pitcher's mound and multiple-use indoor field, ideal for practicing baseball, football and floor hockey. It also boasts a pro shop, snack shop and small game room.

The academy provides birthday party packages, as well, where children can partake in all the activities. The academy's private birthday party room provides the perfect place to share presents, eat pizza and enjoy birthday cake. The facility can host up to 150 people for parties, where some guests opt for a game of dodgeball or wiffleball.

This summer, Player's Choice Academy has teamed up with local park districts to offer instructional camps in baseball, softball, volleyball, basketball, football and floor hockey. Check local park district listings for camp dates and times. Participating park districts and recreation departments include Huntley, Lake in the Hills, Crystal Lake and Algonquin.

Player's Choice Academy is located at 9210 Trinity Dr. in Lake in the Hills, and at 12060 Raymond Ct., in Huntley. Summer hours: 12 to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

If speed and action are on your kids' summer wish list, race on over to HobbyTown USA in Lake in the Hills.

HobbyTown USA is a hobby and toy store that features an indoor racing track for radio control car enthusiasts. The store holds daily open track practice times - for children under 10 years old. The cost is $5.

Races, open to all ages, are held every Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m.

HobbyTown USA sells an assortment of family games, remote control cars, model railroad sets, rocket kits, kites, models, science and educational toys that will keep your kids busy - and learning all summer long.

HobbyTown USA is located at 9200 Pyott Road in Lake in the Hills. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
