Patch Flash: Glenview Serial Killer Charged; Endangered Runaway in Downers Grove

After nearly two decades, prosecutors  charged 35-year-old Michael Gargiulo with the murder of his former neighbor and classmate Tricia Pacaccio, stabbed in front of her Glenview home in 1993. Patch helped break the case when a reader wrote in the comment section of a Glenview Patch article about the cold case, saying that Gargiulo had confessed to him. Gargiulo also faces two murder charges and an attempted murder charge in California.

Barrington Patch reports that a man found dead and naked in a pond near Barrington was strangled to death, according to Cook County Sheriff’s officials. The man was identified as David Campbell of Waukegan.

Downers Grove police are looking for a missing 14-year-old girl who is considered an Elena O'Gara-Arnold of Downers Grove was last seen June 29 wearing a pink top and jean shorts. She may be with Stephanie Levan, 18, who has a current juvenile warrant out of Cook County, police told the Downers Grove Patch.

A Lake Zurich teen is using her energy to create a more friendly cyber community. The anonymous teen started a page on Formspring  where students can anonymously compliment other students.  She says the page is catching on; the idea has spread to other schools; and she’s noticed a more positive atmosphere at school.
