Patch Flash: College Admissions Form Asks Sexual Orientation

Chicagoland news to talk about: Glencoe and Winnetka ranked among richest U.S. towns based on earnings.

 

The dean of admissions said the college is "trying to recruit students who are academically qualified and diverse," according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. Sources say this is a first, or at least very rare, among American colleges.

The charge of drug-induced homicide brought Tuesday against a 23-year-old Lake in the Hills man is the third case of its kind in the past 18 months for the Crystal Lake Police Department. Lake in the Hills police said more teens and adults in their 20s were using the drug.

According to a federal affidavit, Kice had numerous illicit computer files bearing such names as "Church Girls Gone Wild," "underage illegal preteen daughter," "pedofil," "lolitaguy," and others too filthy to print. Forensic examination also found that some of the photographic images of young girls were taken in the man’s home.

 

Who’s the richest of the rich towns? Glencoe and Winnetka rank in the upper echelons of American towns when it comes to income. According to CNNMoney, Glencoe is No. 6 and Winnetka is No. 7 for "top-earning towns" in the U.S. The ranking system orders towns numerically by median family income, with a total of 25 towns. They were the only two Illinois towns on the list.

 

The suburban equestrian community lost a Mecca for horse supplies earlier this year when Libertyville Saddle Shop closed its doors.  The company has taken over the lease at 306 Peterson Road, and is currently renovating the space for the grand opening, scheduled to take place sometime between mid October and mid November,
