Parking Tips for Founders' Days

Some tips to keep in mind when trying to find a spot to park your car.

Founders' Days is upon us! Here is a list of things to keep in mind when parking your vehicle for the weekend's festivities:

  • You can park anywhere on the streets, but keep in mind that residents need to be able to access their driveways.
  • On Saturday, the police ask that all parked cars be removed from Main Street between Route 62 and Washington Street by 9 a.m. Any cars left on the street will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • People who have dranken too much are encouraged to leave their cars on the street and get them in the morning.
  • The Kings Cars parking lot is private property and off limits from parking.
  • Handicapped parking will be available at the end of Jefferson Street, just before the entrance to Towne Park.
  • Vehicles exiting off Edwards Street will only be allowed to turn right.
  • Police would like to remind attendees that knives and weapons are not allowed in Towne Park. To that extent, neither are dogs, bikes or carry-in alcohol.
  • Parking is not allowed in the parking lots of the former Algonquin Roadhouse, Parkside Auto and Toastmasters building. Those properties are owned by IDOT.
