Mum's the Word for Algonquin Walmart Employees
Local workers declined to comment on the Supreme Court's decision to block a gender discrimination lawsuit against Wal-Mart that involved more than 1.5 million women.
Wal-Mart won big Monday morning, as the Supreme Court sided with the big-box store company on a colossal class-action lawsuit filed by women who said they failed to earn promotions because of their gender.
Local Walmart and other megastore workers weren’t talking about the decision’s implications – at least not openly.
When approached on break Monday afternoon, employees declined to comment on the Supreme Court case or their stores’ managerial treatment, saying that only corporate employees are allowed to make any sort of statements.

The lawsuit could have involved up to 1.6 million women with the Wal-Mart corporation facing potentially billions of dollars in damages, according to the Associated Press.
Workers at Algonquin's also declined to speak publicly on the high court’s ruling, though many were not aware of the decision or the lawsuit against Wal-Mart.
