McHenry County's Health Ranked in State's Top Counties

McHenry County's "health outcomes" received a rank of 4 (out of 102 counties), with a "health factors" ranking of 7.

McHenry County continues to have some of the healthiest residents in Illinois, according to the annual County Health Rankings, released by the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

McHenry County’s “health outcomes” received a rank of 4 (out of 102 counties), with a “health factors” ranking of 7.

Counties were ranked using summary measures of health outcomes (how healthy a county is – morbidity and mortality) and health factors (what influences a county’s health such as health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic factors, and physical environment).  The report is available online at www.countyhealthrankings.org.

This is the second year of the County Health Rankings, the most comprehensive of its kind to rank the overall health of nearly every county in all 50 states by using a standard way to measure how healthy people are and how long they live.

“Local health departments are part of a larger public health system. The Rankings help support important work that already is going on in McHenry County every day,” said Patrick J. McNulty, Public Health Administrator for McHenry County Department of Health (MCDH).
