MCDH Series Explores Laughter, Health

"Laughing for the Health of It" will be held at the Huntley Park District on Thursday, May 16.

The benefits of laughter will take center stage as part of a Life Smart for Women series hosted by the McHenry Department of Health. 

"Laughing for the Health of It" will explore the physiological and psychological changes experienced when we laugh and will be hedl from 9:30 to 11 a.m. on May 16 at the Huntley Park District, 12015 Mill St. in Huntley. The Life Smart series is designed for women over 50 years old. The presentation will also show the effects of humor on relationships

The Huntley program will be lead by Shira Greenfield, a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor from Centegra Health System’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Service.

Greenfield has previously held classes and seminars on stress reduction, relaxation techniques and mind/body medicine at local venues such as Health Bridge Fitness Center, McHenry County College and DelWebb’s Sun City. 

In addition, presenter Cheryl Moffett, DScPT, CMPT, will show participants how easy it is to incorporate exercise into their lives to improve flexibility, mobility and strength. Moffett is owner of Moffett Physical Therapy and has been practicing physical therapy for the past twelve years.
