LITH Street Market Slated For July Opening Weekend

The street market will be located at 8601 Route 31 in Lake in the Hills.

The weekend street market off Route 31 in Lake in the Hills is expected to open up shop the weekend of July 9.

While just a handful of vendors have currently rented space at the market, the street market team is hoping to sign up between 100 to 150 vendors by opening weekend, said Joanne Liss of Gilberts, who is helping out with the efforts.

The street market will be located on five acres of property at 8601 Route 31 in Lake in the Hills -- directly south of . The land is currently an open field owned by Plote Homes, a local land development company that

Ryan Trottier, vice president of Plote Homes, and the operator of the street market, Tony Sarillo, of Nick's Pub & Pizza, approached the village's planning and zoning commission last month to seek a temporary use permit to run the market for two years on the property.

The as well as the OK'd the temporary use permit and variances at recent meetings.

The weekend flea market is scheduled to be open every Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting on July 9 and going through October.
