A deracho, or short and violent wind storm, hit the Chicago area first thing Monday morning, bringing hurricane-force gusts that downed trees and power lines, knocking out power for thousands of Lake in the Hills residents.

This is a timeline of our coverage since the storm hit Lake in the Hills about 7:30 a.m. Monday. LITH Patch will update this timeline as we provide more coverage in the coming days.

Wednesday, July 13

Food Pantry Forced to Throw Out Food, 11 a.m. Wednesday. Pantry forced to throw out meat, hundreds of dollars in refrigerator food Tuesday after a power outage at pantry. 

7,000 in LITH Lost Power During the Storm, 10 a.m. Wednesday. Trees at Lynn Dillow Park, 4155 Springlake Drive, were leveled. Village trustees get update from village staff on number of outages as of Tuesday night.

Power Restored at Airport, 9 a.m. Wednesday. Lights and electricity at the airport are back up and running after being knocked out from Monday’s storm.

ComEd: Power Will Be Restored by Weekend, 8 p.m. Tuesday

LITH Residents, Businesses Push Through Power Outages, 6 p.m. Tuesday. Couple on Oak Leaf Road sets up generator, food pantry closes, sporadic outages at strip malls in LITH.
