PHOTOS: January Warm Spell Lures People Out

It was a beautiful day for a picnic, jogging, swinging or just chatting with friends at the park.

Moms, dads, grandparents and babysitters were out in full force at Sunset Park and Ken Carpenter Park in Lake in the Hills on Friday afternoon.

Temperatures around 53 degrees combined with sunny skies to offer the perfect opportunity for people to venture outside without the need for heavy coats and other outdoor gear- in the beginning of January.

"Can you believe this," Algonquin resident Brenda Watterson said as she had a picnic with her twin daughters, Avery and Finley, at Ken Carpenter Park, corner of Miller and Randall roads.

Over at Sunset Park, 5200 Miller Rd., joggers and bikers were out in full force. Plenty of parents stopped by that playground as well.

"I just couldn't say 'no' to the park today," Carey Yarolimek, of LITH, said. "This is great."
