Indian Trail Beach Re-Opens

The McHenry County Health Department closed the beach last week after finding high bacteria levels in the water.

The McHenry County Health Department has re-opened due to high bacteria levels.

The health department re-sampled the beach and found Indian Trail Beach safe for swimming, according to a MCDH news release issued Tuesday.

North Beach 1, Silver Lake, Oakwood Hills, and Wonder Center, Wonder Lake, also have re-opened, according to the news release.

The health department tests for E. coli every two weeks on all licensed beaches in the county's 13 lakes. The department recommends not swimming at least two to three days after heavy rainfall.
