UPDATE: No Serious Damage Reported from Storms

The National Weather Service reported wind gusts of 68 mph Tuesday night.

Storms swept the area Tuesday night, causing power outages for many and high winds.

Wind gusts of 68 mph were reported in Lake in the Hills about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Heavy rain in Algonquin accounted for nearly an inch of rain in 30 minutes Tuesday, with a total of 1.75 inches of rain measured about 9:30 p.m.

Downed branches and intermittent power outages for some was the worst Lake in the Hills saw Tuesday night, said LITH police Sgt. Eric Decker.

Decker said all power had been restored Wednesday morning for LITH businesses and homes.

The Lake in the Hills Public Works Department also reported no significant damage from Tuesday's storms. Crews were out on normal tasks Wednesday morning, LITH Public Works Director Fred Mullard wrote in an email Wednesday morning.

A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for McHenry County. There is a 50 percent chance of rain showers after 10 a.m., according to the NWS. Temperatures are predicted to hold steady at about 69 degrees.
