Heat Advisory in Effect Today for County

An air quality alert is also in effect for the county.

The Chicago area is in store for another hot and sticky day today.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for McHenry County and several counties throughout the area from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.

An air quality alert is also in effect today for McHenry County. The alert means ozone levels and air quality is at a level that could be unsafe for those with respiratory problems, such as asthma, or pulmonary disease.

The NWS suggests active children and adults avoid prolonged activity today.

A high of 95 degrees is expected today with heat indexes making it feel as hot as 106 degrees. There is a chance of thunderstorms after 5 p.m.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected before 10 p.m. tonight.

A welcome cool-off will come Wednesday with temperatures expected to reach a high of 85 degrees. The National Weather Service has information on the forecast through the rest of the week and weekend.
