Fog Advisory Issued; Travel Plans Delayed for Some

The National Weather Service has issued the fog advisory for McHenry County through 12 p.m. today.

Area residents woke up to fog this morning. 

The National Weather Service has issued a fog advisory for McHenry County— as well a several other counties throughout the Chicago area — until 12 p.m. today. 

Some areas will experience very dense fog with visibility of a "couple hundred feet at best," according to the NWS. The fog should begin to lift later this morning with some areas experiencing fog into early this afternoon.

On a busy day for travel, the fog forced cancellations at area airports. About 100 flights were cancelled and 400 more delayed at O'Hare and Midway airports, according to the Chicago Tribune.
