Flash Flood Warning in Effect for Area

Slow moving thunderstorms predicted to roll through area.

A flash flood warning is in effect for southwestern McHenry County until 7:30 p.m. tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, slow moving thunderstorms will be making their way across the area and could bring two to three inches of rain per hours.

Runoff from excessive rainfall could cause flooding to occur. The most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles and the NWS reminds motorists no to attempt to cross water-covered bridges, dips in the road or flowing streams on foot or in vehicle.

Other counties affected by the flash flood warning include DeKalb County, northern La Salle County, southern Boone County, Lee County and southern Ogle County.
