Today is Walk to School Day  several area schools have signed up to participate in walk to school day activities. The Walk to School Day website provides a map-a-route option to find different routes for walking and biking to your school.

According to a Kane County Health Department press release, "the physical activity the kids get from walking to and from school is important because we know that more than one third of Kane County children are overweight or obese, which is a risk factor for chronic disease." 

Conley Elementary School is looking for the public's help. The school is aiming to get the public to vote for Conley in a nationwide contest put on by U.S. Cellular that will award thousands of dollars to the schools that get the top votes. The presidential debate is tonight. Will you be watching? Presidential candidates Gov. Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama will sound off on domestic policy starting at 8 p.m. Several channels will air the debate, according to TVGuide.com. 

There are a couple watch parties taking place in the area during the debate. Dundee Township Republicans will meet at 8 p.m. at Emmett's, 128 West Main St. in West Dundee, The McHenry County GOP is hosting a watch party at The Cottage, 6 East Crystal Lake Ave. in Crystal Lake.
