ECC Presents Information Security Awareness Sessions

The first session will kick off tonight and it covers topics of identity theft, social engineering and techniques like pretexting, phishing, vishing, Trojan horses, baiting, quid pro quo and hybrid attacks.

Elgin Community College will hold several free presentations this fall to help the public and businesses become more aware about securing sensitive information. All presentations will be held at Elgin Community College in the Seigle Auditorium, located in the Fox Valley University and Business Center, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

“Increased public use of the Internet offers opportunities for criminals to utilize sensitive information for illegal purposes,” said Jason Marchant, ECC information security officer, in a statement.

These sessions are recommended for all ages, and no technical knowledge is required to attend. Both Jason Marchant and Dr. Michael Chahino will lead the following sessions.
