District 300 Continues to Work With Union

The Daily Herald reported this week that the district is looking to teachers to agree to a wage freeze and benefit changes.

Community Unit School District 300 continues to work with it teachers union in hopes the union will agree to wage freezes and benefit changes to allow 363 teachers in the district to keep their jobs, according to a Daily Herald article.

District 300 needs to cut $5 million to balance its budget and is “looking to the teachers union to come up with $4 million of it,” according to the article.

The article goes on to state that District 300 in a statement Friday said that if the union agreed to the changes, 363 teachers would return to work and if they did not, the district would look at schedule changes and shortening the school day.
