Five Ways to Celebrate Halloween in Algonquin this Weekend

Put on your scariest costume and get out and celebrate!

Don't forget are Monday, Oct. 31 from 3-7 p.m. But why wait for Monday to celebrate Halloween?

1. Get a costume!

Algonquin has several options for finding the perfect costume. There is the locally-owned Fantasy Festival, 901 Cary Road, costume shop that is open year-round. Or you can see what the pop-up Halloween stores have to offer, like Halloween City, 1430 E. Algonquin Road. Or you can piece your own costume together by visiting or Carpentersville.

2. Howl-O-Ween Dog Parade, 2200 Harnish Drive

While registration ended last week, those who want to check out all the pooches and their owners dressed up in Halloween garb are more than welcome to do so. The parade starts at 1:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29. Entries will march from to High Hill Park.

3. , 1900 S. Randall Road

On Sunday, Oct. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a prize wheel, giveaways, activities, goodie bags, and safe, mall-wide trick or treating, and STAR 105.5 will be broadcasting live! The cost is free!

4. Halloween Town, 415 W. Parkview Terrace

See one man's ordinary suburban yard transformed into his very own . Get the spooks from from dusk until 10 p.m. Everything Haupert has made was constructed by hand!

5. Rent scary movies

The Boston Globe put together a list of the top 50 scariest movies of all time. Have you seen the scariest movie of all time? Hint: It was filmed in 1982 and a famous quote from the movie is “Somebody in this camp ain't what he appears to be.”
