Back to Books Grants for Algonquin, Huntley Libraries

Libraries received state grant to purchase more books and other materials.

Two area libraries are each getting a $5,000 Back to Books grant to help purchase new books, learning CDs/DVDs and other education material.

The Algonquin Area Library and Huntley Area Public Library are receiving the grants as part of a Back to Books, a $1 million program through the state of Illinois.

Libraries from across the state submitted applications to Secretary of State and State Librarian Jesse White’s office specifying the types of books and materials they would like to receive.

State Rep. Mike Tryon, who represents District 66, announced the grant awards in a release, stating he was pleased to see some of the Back to Books funding coming to libraries in the district.

“The $5,000 grants will provide these libraries with much-needed funding to help update their selection of materials for patrons,” Tryon said.
