Algonquin Conducting Controlled Burns Today

You may see smoke in the air near Spella Park.

If you see smoke in the air today, rest assured, a house is probably not on fire. Algonquin's public works department will be conducting a controlled burn Thursday, Nov. 17 at around 11 a.m. near and the on Harnish Drive.

Streets Superintendent Al Mozola said the burn would take place at the base of the sledding hill in Spella Park and would extend to along the corridor of Woods Creek.

There is the possibility that another prescribed burn will take place tomorrow, but it depends on how windy it is, Mozola said.
