CHICAGO – After sold out success in 2012, Chicago Academy for the Arts (CAA) is delighted to announce the highly anticipated A Taste for the Arts Gala will return to the Harris Theater and Millennium Park Terrace Tuesday, May 14, 2013. Donna LaPietra and Bill Kurtis will serve as hosts for the gala, which showcases the unparalleled talent of CAA’s students as well as cuisine from Chicago’s hottest chefs.

In addition to hosts Donna LaPietra and Bill Kurtis, A Taste for the Arts Gala is chaired by Stephen Flach and Chris Fryson, Dianne and John Kleber, Jen Peeples, and Lisa and Joe Torres. Wirtz Beverage of Illinois will serve as the exclusive Premier Sponsor.

This exceptional evening will highlight student art and performance alongside the dazzling cuisine of some of Chicago’s hottest chefs – including CAA alumni parent, and past Taste host, Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill and Topolobampo). Previous guest chefs have included Stephanie Izard, Takashi Yagahashi, and Paul Virant. .This year’s line-up of chefs will be announced at a later date.

Guests will be treated to a performance at the Harris Theater at 6 p.m. and will proceed to the Millennium Park Terrace at 7:30 p.m. for silent auction, tastings from 8 -10 chefs, cocktails, mingling and music by CAA’s Jazz Ensemble throughout the evening.  VIP packages will also include private, pre-show cocktail receptions.

Individual gala tickets start at $350, with reserved tables starting at $5,000.  Performance only tickets are $20 each. Contact specialevents@chicagoartsacademy.org for more information on tickets or sponsorship opportunities.

A Taste for the Arts Gala is CAA’s primary fundraising event, and provides critical support for the ongoing success of the school – Illinois’ premier arts high school and one of only four independent arts high schools in the United States. Funds raised through the event will support CAA’s groundbreaking programs, international partnerships and scholarships, ensuring CAA’s place as a leader and model for excellence in arts education.

About CAA

Essee Kupcinet and the founders of the Chicago Academy for the Arts set forth a bold vision for education when they opened the school in 1981. Since that time, CAA has grown to become an internationally recognized independent school acclaimed for its innovative academic model and intellectually savvy graduates – independent thinkers in every field, as well as award-winning artists. Designated a John F. Kennedy Center National School of Distinction, CAA remains the only independent arts high school in the state of Illinois and only one of four independent schools in the country that provides professional arts training and a comprehensive academic education. The 2011-2012 school year marks CAA’s 30th Anniversary year.
