Air Expo Takes Flight at LITH Airport

The recent expo was quite a hit. Find out what you missed if you were unable to attend.

This past weekend was the Lake in the Hills Air Expo located at the airport. The event was originally scheduled for August but due to a rough rain storm, it pushed the event back a few months. With that said, the event was a great success.

As I have stated before in this blog, the airport is a great place for families to come out and spend the day. No day could have shown this more than Saturday. We have families of all sizes with kids of all ages coming out and viewing the aircraft and the airport. Several families came up to me and discussed how nice the airport was and how great the pilots were. The weather was perfect and the local businesses showed off their planes.

The Civil Air Patrol was also present showing that even teens can be extremely interested in flying and start young. Blue Skies Pilot shop showed off one of its planes as well as a few other establishments. Overall, there were about ten planes on display. A few pilots even brought their planes out. As I had discussed earlier, the airport is home to a very special aircraft, the Prescott Pusher. This aircraft is one of only two left in the country that is flying. It was also on display this past weekend.

The Village even had a shuttle bus taking people to and from Tom's Pumpkin Patch on Algonquin road. This allowed families to pack in a few different events on the day and brought us a few more families to meet with.

In the end a couple hundred people came out to the airport and watched as aircraft took off and landed all day while also meeting a few pilots and getting the opportunity to sit in the aircraft that passes over their homes each day.

With the nice weather slowly disappearing, I encourage any and all people who are interested in seeing the airport to stop by. I will give a personal tour around the area and we can hopefully show off a few aircrafts while we are at it.
