Why wasn't Tru-Value Listed. I miss this store the most. The Staff was always helpful and friendly: and they always had what I needed for a last minute Repair.

Thanks for adding True Value to the list, Ed and Marianne. I don't get official notices when businesses close, so I may have missed a few. If there are any others, definitely include them in the comments section.

As of Feb. 2012, I will have lived in Algonquin for thirty years. When we moved here, there was ONE grocery store ... ORBIT ... which was on Rt. 31 by The Algonquin Subway. Then the PIGGLY WIGGLY came into town [to be booted out by competition] AND THEN a *McDonalds* ! WOW! Now ... I just see OUR TOWN as having WAY TOO MUCH when it comes to retail & food establishments. Nothing has the opportunity to really 'take hold' + there is usually another of any ONE of our businesses just ten mins away in Crystal Lake, Dundee, Barrington, etc. We have cars. We can drive. Just saying ...

ps I KNOW ... that we need the retail tax BUT somewhere along the way ... it got out of control! The End!

Quiznos closed on April 15th right after I arranged a deal to buy them out. More of a buyout deal than an out of business thing. But he would have closed on April 30th had I not bought him out so pretty much would've been the same thing ;) And BUBS SUBS does not have salads on the menu :( not yet at least. Just "Old Fashioned Submarine Sandwiches & Chicago Style Italian Beef" YUMMY!!!
