Village Board Clears Way for New Liquor Store

Village trustees granted permission Thursday for an Algonquin businessman to open a liquor store at Acorn and Randall roads.

The cleared the way Thursday for a new liquor store to locate within the Acorn Lane Commercial Center.

Minesh Patel of Algonquin plans to open LITH Liquor in an approximately 2,000-square-foot space that is vacant at 461 N. Randall Road. The space once was occupied by a frame shop.

Patel told village officials he plans to sell liquor, wine and tobacco. He previously owned and operated liquor stores in Florida and in Elgin.

The Acorn Lane Commercial Center, at the northeast corner of Acorn and Randall roads, is home to Ace Hardware, , and .

Trustees granted Patel’s request Thursday for a conditional use permit to operate the store in the center. The board also agreed to extend the conditional use permit toward an additional 2,000-square-feet in the center should Patel want to expand his store in the future.

Any expansion would have to be contiguous with the existing store space, said Dan Olson, the Lake in the Hills community development director.

LITH Liquors projected hours of operation will be from 10 a.m. to 10 during weekdays, 10 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Patel said.
