Powder Room in Downtown Algonquin Closes

Local spa closes its doors for good in downtown Algonquin.

The Powder Room in downtown Algonquin closed at the end of July.

The spa was located at 328 S. Main St. (Route 31), and served as a place for personal pampering, socializing and networking. Owners Julie Bailey and Krysten Boylan sent an e-mail message to their clientele alerting them to the business closing.

"The decision was quite difficult for us to make," the e-mail stated.

"Everyone who has helped us develop and grow the Powder Room the last year has put their heart into making this a place to network, socialize together, shop and get pampered in our spa. We are truly grateful for everyone who supported us in every way."

According to the notification, Boylan will continue to offer spa pampering in a new location, soon to be determined. Bailey said she will be going through a transition and will let her customers know where she lands in the next few months.

The monthly Women and Investing Seminar Series that has met at the Powder Room will continue its meetings at a new location: Caufield and Flood Accounting Firm, 407 Congress Parkway, Crystal Lake, suite A.

The next meeting is scheduled for Aug. 28.
