Niko's Lodge Now Open, Rainbow Restaurant to Open Soon

Niko's Lodge owner Niko Kanakaris thankful for community's support.

Since its grand opening on January 26, has been providing comfort food and a lodge-like atmosphere to area residents. The restaurant, located at , features log-cabin décor, couches and fireplaces.

Owner Niko Kanakaris, who lives in Huntley, is satisfied with business thus far.

“We’ve seen a great response,” he said. “It’s been even busier than I expected.”

Kanakaris said that people love the warmth of the rustic lodge setting as well as the food.

“People love the rotisserie chicken and the ribs,” he said.

Niko’s Lodge also features two wood-burning fire pits outside, and they offer free s’mores for all guests.

Kanakaris expects Niko’s Lodge to attract guests in the warmer months as well. “The Wasco location does very well in the summer,” he said.

Niko's Lodge will open their patio as soon as the weather is warm enough.

“We will be able to seat 80-90 people outside,” he said.

He plans to schedule live music for weekends in the summer.

“We want to make sure every guest has a good time when they come in,” he said. “I’m thankful for the support of Algonquin and the surrounding community.”

 On the east side of Algonquin, is almost ready to open. They recently passed their health inspection and are now waiting for their fire inspection. Owner Nick Dimitrelis says he expects to be open within 2-3 weeks.
