Gaming Cafe Proposed for Lake in the Hills

Stella's Place would be located in the former WineStyles location at 319 N. Randall Road — in the same strip mall as Starbucks in Lake in the Hills.

A unique cafe offering video gaming and serving breakfast and coffee as well as appetizers, wine and beer is being proposed for Lake in the Hills.

Gary Leff, CEO of Laredo’s Hospitality Ventures, is expected to present his gaming cafe concept to the Lake in the Hills Village Board during its committee of a whole meeting Tuesday evening.

Leff, who was the lead design and development advisor for Rivers Casino in Des Plaines, has signed a lease for Stella’s Place, which would be located in the former WineStyles location, 319 N. Randall Road in Lake in the Hills, according to the Lake in the HIlls village board packet.

The proposal includes video gaming machines at the cafe as well as iPad mini rentals. The cafe would serve breakfast as well as sandwiches and appetizers.

“Stella’s Place is an upscale neighborhood cafe and gathering place for adults to relax and enjoy a coffee, light meal, and beer/wine in a social environment,” according to the memo from Leff to LITH Village Board President Paul Mulcahy.

The business would need a liquor and gaming license before moving forward. Laredo’s Hospitality currently operates a Stella’s Place in Hoffman Estates.

Leff will be seeking feedback from the LITH Village Board on his cafe during Tuesday’s committee of a whole meeting at 7:30 p.m. at village hall, 600 Harvest Gate.
