End of the road for Lake in the Hills scooter business.

Lake in the Hills has lost a valued business.

"Dear Beloved Scooter Customers and Facebook Fans:

We recently had to close the doors to our little scooter shop. The economy has not been kind and due to several compounding circumstances, we just could not keep our doors open any longer.

We have sincerely enjoyed getting to know all of you and so appreciate the love and support you have provided us over the past 5 years.

We are sad to go, but not sad to have met YOU, created great memories, supported fabulous local charities, led awesome scooter rides and BBQ parties, and introduced so many people to the joy and passion of scooting!...

...We will miss you all, wish you the best, and hope you will continue to share the joy of scooting with others.

Bruce, Christy and Harley."

Flat Squirrel had become a valued business in the Lake in the Hills community, sponsoring scooter outings and donating to local charities, including giving the Lake in the Hills Police Department a $7,000 motorcycle.

Customers who purchased a Genuine Scooter, Lance Scooter, SYM Scooter, KYMCO Scooter, or CF Moto Scooter with one or two year warranties from Flat Squirrel can have warranty work honored by other authorized manufacturer dealerships, the Facebook page message stated.

Area scooter dealers include Arlington MotorSports, Second City Scooters, and Scooterworks, the notice stated. Scooter owners can also visit the manufacturers' websites for more information or other dealer information.
