Fantastic Italian Food on a Chilly Summer Night

Annie and family hit up Biaggi's.

Lately, it seems as though Mother Nature is playing games with us.

One day it is a sweltering 98 degrees; the kind of day that makes me think the house will melt if I turn on the oven.

The next day, it is a chilly 58 degrees and all I can think about is eating something warm and comforting.

The change in the weather was a deciding factor in where we dined last weekend.  We decided we wanted something warm and comforting so we headed to , located at 1524 South Randall Road, in the Algonquin Commons.

We arrived at Biaggi’s on Friday night at about 6:50 p.m., without a reservation, and waited about 15 minutes for a table.  After we were seated in a big half circle booth, we ordered our drinks. I ordered an iced tea, but it did not taste like normal iced tea. Our waitress explained that the iced tea is black currant tea—it was delicious.

Our meal started with our waitress describing the specials of the night while preparing a mixture of extra virgin olive oil, Parmesan cheese and pepper for us to dip our bread.  I am not a fan of olive oil so I skipped it, but the rest of the family enjoyed snacking on it while they looked over their menus.

For dinner, my daughter, McKenzie, and I ordered the Fettuccini with Lobster. She ordered the half order, and I ordered the full order so I could eat the leftovers for lunch the next day.

Fettuccini with Lobster is black fettuccini with lobster, mushrooms and a lobster cream sauce. It was amazing. The lobster was perfectly cooked, not at all rubbery and the cream sauce was not too heavy.

The hubby ordered the Rigatoni Alla Bolognese which is tube pasta with meat sauce, Italian sausage and a bit of cream. He enjoyed this very much.

Logan ordered his old standby—chicken fingers—and Piper ordered pasta with butter and Parmesan cheese. Both little kids enjoyed their meals, but asked for a box to bring them home for lunch the next day.

However, by the time our waitress brought back a box, which was really only a few minutes, Logan had already finished eating his chicken. So much for saving it for lunch the next day.

The kids’ meals include a drink and dessert, so my kids had a small chocolate sundae. McKenzie and I decided to share a Crème Brulee. It was astounding! If my family had not been there and I was not in public, I would have picked up that dish and licked it clean.

Our meal at Biaggi’s was wonderful. The food was great, the service was incredible and the atmosphere was perfect.

We give Biaggi’s 4.5 out of 5 stars!
