Centegra Health System will host several free wellness lectures in March.

Community members are welcome to hear physicians speak about neck pain, back pain, epilepsy and kidney conditions. Space is limited and light refreshments will be served during the lectures.

“Is Your Crick More than a Pain?”

Most people have had a crick in their neck or back at some point in their life. Join Dr. Carl Graf and Dr. Babak Lami, independent spinal orthopedic surgeons on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, as they discuss the causes of neck and back pain and the treatment options available to help alleviate the pain. “Is Your Crick More than a Pain?” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway. Learn what symptoms should trigger concern and what to do if a crick is more than just a pain.

“Back to Basics: Treating Back Pain”

Muscle spasms or chronic spinal conditions can affect everyday lives. Join Dr. Mark Dowell, a chiropractor with Centegra Physician Care, as he shares a collection of medical imaging slides to illustrate the many back conditions that cause pain and discomfort. “Back to Basics: Treating Back Pain” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.

“Epilepsy: Cease the Seizure”

Epilepsy is a seizure disorder affecting three million Americans. Clusters of nerve cells in the brain signal abnormally, causing the person to stare blankly, be temporarily confused, have convulsions or even lose consciousness. Join Dr. Hsiong Chen, a neurologist with Centegra Physician Care, as he discusses the different types of seizures as well as the treatment options that are available. “Epilepsy: Cease the Seizure” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Crystal Lake, 200 Congress Parkway.

“Coping with Kidney Conditions”

A normal kidney has many jobs, including filtering blood, regulating minerals within the blood and producing hormones. If the kidney stops doing its job, people can be left with multiple health problems. Join Dr. Christopher Lodowsky, an independent urologist on the medical staff at Centegra Health System, during National Kidney Month, as he discusses conditions from kidney stones to renal failure. Learn the causes and symptoms associated with certain kidney conditions and the treatment options available. “Coping with Kidney Conditions” will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 27 at Centegra Health Bridge Fitness Center-Huntley, 10450 Algonquin Road.
