Expect Road Closures During Run for Recreation in Algonquin

The race will begin at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

The inaugural Algonquin Run for Recreation 10-mile race will take place Saturday, May 19, on various streets between Main Street (Illinois Route 31) and Randall Road.

Motorists are advised to use extra caution when driving in Algonquin on Saturday. Course marshals will be stationed throughout the course to assist runners and motorists before and during the race.

Traffic will be restricted on Jefferson Street, Washington Street and Railroad Street between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. Huntington Drive will be closed from Main Street to Circle Drive between 6:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Motorists should use Algonquin Road as the designated detour route. Residents may experience intermittent traffic delays and additional activity in the area.

Runners still interested in participating in the race may register the day of the event (May 19) at Towne Park, 100 Jefferson Street, between 5:00 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. The race begins promptly at 7:00 a.m. The registration cost is $45 per runner.
