Huntley Wins Battle with Barrington

The Huntley boys basketball team picked up their 24th win of the season with a 38-31 victory at home over Barrington.

The game between Huntley and Barrington on Saturday night had a buzz of excitement around it.

The game, which was televised on CN100's game of the week, was also Senior Night for the Red Raiders and there was a very large home crowd.

Huntley again displayed their trademark in-your-face man-to-man defense as they held Barrington to just 31 points (24 below their season average) in a 38-31 win.

Barrington did not score their first basket until almost 6 minutes were gone in the first quarter and Huntley got a quick start as Senior Troy Miller connected on his first 3-point attempt.  The Raiders jumped out to a 9-5 first quarter lead and also got the crown into the game some more when Ryan Craig lofted a perfect alley-oop pass to sophomore Amanze Egekeze for a two-handed dunk.

Scoring continued to be hard for both teams in the second and Huntley still led 15-11 at halftime.

Huntley was up again 32-24 with 3:33 to go in the game when Barrington scored 4 straight points.  The Broncos threatened one more time with a 3-pointer with 29.4 seconds left to close within 3 at 34-31.  Bryce Only (9 points) and Jake Brock (7 points) would make their free throws down the stretch.

Amanze led the team in scoring with 10 points and Troy Miller finished with 8 as Huntley improves to 24-2.
