Huntley Sophomores End Season with a Win

The Huntley Sophomore boys basketball team finished their season with an exciting victory over Grayslake Central.

The Huntley sophomore boys basketball team completed their season with a thrilling 51-49 victory over host Grayslake Central.  

The Red Raiders finished the season with a 15-11 record.

The first quarter was back and forth and the Rams led 14-12 at the end of the quarter.  Grayslake Central took a 29-20 lead in the second quarter but the Red Raiders ended the quarter with a 6-0 run to trail by just 3 at halftime.

In the third quarter the Rams also got out to a 7 point lead before Huntley came back to tie the score at 38-38 as the quarter ended.

Huntley grabbed their first lead since early in the game at 40-38.  In the fourth quarter the Red Raiders were either ahead or tied and with under 2 minutes to play they had their biggest lead at 49-44.

The Rams then scored 5 straight to tie the game at 49.  Huntley called timeout to set up their last shot with 16 seconds remaining.  

Huntley was pressured on the perimeter and for a moment did not look like they were going to get a shot off.

Blake Jacobs took a pass at the top of the key and dribbled to the free throw line where he pulled up and hit a jump shot with 7 seconds left that put Huntley ahead 51-49.  

When Trevor Oslance knocked the inbounds pass to a teammate Huntley had the win.

Huntley had two players record double-double's as Zach Gorney finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Daniel Janus had 12 points and 14 rebounds.  Also in double figures for the Raiders was Jacobs who poured in 11 points including the game winner.
