Huntley Sophomore Boys Basketball Survive at McHenry
In Sophomore boys basketball action the Huntley Red Raiders defeated the Warriors of McHenry on Friday night, 48-47.
Huntley improved to 12-8 overall and 5-3 in the Valley Division with an exciting 48-47 victory at McHenry.
The game was close throughout the first half as the teams traded leads. Huntley led 17-16 after one period and McHenry came back to take a 29-28 lead into halftime.
Blake Jacobs scored 10 of his team high 16 points (also a season high) in the first half and Daniel Janus had 11 of his 13 points in the first half.

McHenry maintained its one point lead as the third quarter ended 38-37. The Warriors jumped out to their biggest lead of the game at 43-37 to start the fourth. Zach Gorney then hit a jumper (4 points), Jason Shields and Riley Wicks both hit 3’s and the 8-0 run by Huntley put them up 45-43.
The Warriors answered with a 3 pointer of their own to go back up 46-45. Blake then hit two free throws and Brad Spoeth made 1 of 2 free throws to put Huntley up 48-46. McHenry made one of two free throws and got the ball back with about 6 seconds to play. They called timeout to setup a final play and managed to get two good shots that did not fall as Huntley held on for the victory.
