Huntley JV Boys Lose to Cary-Grove

Huntley JV Boys Basket falls 39-37 on the road to Cary-Grove.

The JV boys lost their first game of the season, 39-37, at Cary-Grove. 

Huntley jumped out to a 6-0 lead to start the game and led 8-2 after one quarter.  Cary-Grove then hit back to back 3-pointers to start the second quarter and pull back to even at 8-8. 

The rest of the game was back and forth with 16 lead changes. The largest lead either team held was 4 points.

With the score tied at 37 the Trojans had the ball with 11.2 seconds remaining.  Huntley committed a foul with 6 seconds remaining as the Trojan player drove to the basket along the baseline.  Cary-Grove made both free throws and the Red Raiders desperation attempt came up empty as time expired. 

The scoring for the Raiders was very balanced with each player scoring between 4 and 7 points.  Robert Barreto led the team with 7 points.  Mason Wicks had 6 points.  Kevin Melaniphy, Kemdi Egekeze, Tommy Regan and Jake Wagner each had 5 points.  Zach Gorney finished with 4 points.

The boys also had a season low 10 team turnovers as their record fell to 4-1.
