Huntley Boys Basketball Survive Poor Offensive Night

The Huntley Red Raiders boys varsity won a defensive battle at McHenry on Friday night, 34-29.

Huntley remains atop the Valley Division after defeating McHenry on a very low scoring night, 34-29.  The Red Raiders are now 19-2 overall and 8-0 in the Valley.

The Raiders jumped out quickly to an 8-0 lead but the Warriors responded with an 8-0 run of their own.  Huntley led at the end of one quarter 12-5 and was up 20-16 at halftime.

It looked like Huntley was ready to take control in the third period when they went up 26-19 but McHenry answered right back again with a 3-pointer and a three point play by Robert Tonyan.

The Red Raider crowd came to their feet when Ryan Craig drove and passed to Amanze Egekeze for a nice dunk and a 30-25 lead.  The third quarter ended with Huntley up 30-27.

Egekeze led all scores with 10 points and also recorded 5 blocked shots.  Troy Miller finished with 8 points, Bryce Only and Justin Frederick each had 6 points and Jake Brock finished with 4 as only the starters for Huntley scored in the game.
