Ford School Update: Let There Be Light

Update on Ford School project.

This past week electricity was brought to Ford School. This is a major accomplishment as this will help with the restoration of the school.

With the help of volunteer Ross Edelmann, an employee of Webster Electric of Des Plains, Il, he was able to hookup the wires from the inside panel to the outside meter sockets where ComEd would hook up the underground wire. Once that was completed, we contacted ComEd and they came out and brought the power to the meter.

Our main objective now is to get the school buttoned up before the cold weather hits us. Some of the items which need to be done; stripping of the paint from the siding and repainting said siding, repair and replace the windows, and replacing the doors.

This week we are going to be at the 12th Annual Summer Sunset Festival in Lake In The Hills. We will have a booth setup and would love to see you stop by. In order to raise more funding for Ford School, we will be holding a 50/50 raffle and we also will be raffling off 7 Nights of Dining Out for Two. We have certificates and/or gift cards for dinner out from seven of our area restaurants.  So please stop by our booth to see what other goodies we have for sale and possible auction items.

We have also teamed up with the kind people of Five Below for some monthly fundraising. Our first fundraiser will be Sept. 7th-9th.

Check out our Facebook pages for Ford School and or LITH Historical Society and visit the photo albums. We have the coupon there where you can print it out and bring it with you to any of three stores in Algonquin, Crystal Lake or McHenry. You can print as many as you like but remember to bring the coupon with you so that a portion of your purchase will be donated to the Ford School renovation project.

We hope to see you out at the Summer Sunset Festival. Please have a safe and happy holiday weekend.
