Lake In The Hills Historical Society Ford School Project Update

Have you noticed something different about Ford School? Things have changed at the school since it moved back to Ford School Park.

Things have progressed at Ford School.  Some structure changes have been made to the west side of the school. When the school was moved back to its original spot the west side had four windows and two doors, which was not part of the original design. Two of the windows and the two doors have been removed and now the west side has been returned to the original three windows. New siding has been put up and the windows are being reworked to install back into the building.

We are hoping that the weather will hold up and we will be able to get the building primed and possibly painted before winter takes over.

Getting the outside buttoned up for winter was on the top of this list to complete, and we are happy that we are just about there.

Next will be restoration of the inside of the school. All this of course takes money and hard work by Society members and volunteers. We are hoping to raise some of that money this weekend with a special fundraiser.

The Historical Society is excited to partner up with Gordmans , located in the Algonquin Commons, for a special fund raiser called G-Thanks Support You Local Community, Saturday Oct. 13, from 9:00 am until 9:30pm.

How this fundraiser works:

Gordmans has donated $10 Savings Cards to their store which we are selling for $5.

An individual may only purchase up to 20 Savings Card per person.

Only one card may be redeemed per item.

100% of the proceeds from the Saving Cards sales will go directly to Lake In The Hills Historical Society.

People may also enter a drawing for a $500 Gordmans Shopping Spree. Gordmans will make a matching donation of $5 per entry to the nonprofit with the most entries in the Shopping Spree drawing. Be sure to enter drawing at the store!

Saving Card holders will receive a Gordmans gift bag! Only while supplies last.

We would love to see as many supports come out and shop and help us raise the funds needed to restore Ford School.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
