Take A Run Thru The Hills; Sample Over 80 Wines

Some unique events are taking place this weekend including a meat raffle and a chance to witness a nighttime prescribed burn.

Where/When: Race starts at , 311 N. Randall Road, Lake in the Hills on Sunday. Registration opens at 6:30 a.m. race day, races start at 8 a.m. 

Why go: Go for the longer run/walk (10K) shorter run/walk (5K) or support your kids in the Molehill races. The race takes advantages of the rolling hills at Woods Creek Lake to give participants a little extra challenge.

Pricing: 10K/5K run/walk $25 in advance, $30 after April 5. Molehill races $17 in advance, $22 after April 5.

Where/When: , 401 Country Club Road in Crystal Lake on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why go: Help in the efforts to restore the Dole Mansion by supporting the Lakeside Legacy Foundation at their wine tasting. Sample over 80 wines, listen to jazz and get discounts on cases of wine.

Where/When: Glacial Park Lost Valley Visitor Center, 6316 Harts Road in Ringwood on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.  

Why go: Because its like a bonfire times 100. Plus, the contrast of the night sky and the fire makes for a beautiful sight.

Where/When: Whole Foods Palatine, 1331 N. Rand Road in Palatine on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

Why go: Fine tune your green thumb at Smart Farm’s Spring Garden Preparation Workshop.

Where/When: , 1320 S. Main St. in Algonquin on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.  

Why go: Don’t be a chicken – attend the meat raffle, to benefit the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Interfaith Food Pantry. Door prizes and t-shirts also included.
