Patch Picks: Where to Celebrate Valentine's Day in Algonquin

Most restaurants that are normally closed on Mondays will be open for dinner on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.

In historic downtown Algonquin, Cucina Bella Will be running a limited menu Saturday through Monday featuring heart-shaped ravioli in a sherry wine sauce and a lobster dish, among other special Valentine's Day items. The restaurant also boasts an open kitchen, which allows diners to watch the chefs' magic.

Typically closes on Mondays, Martini's on Main will be open starting at 4 p.m. for Valentine's Day. Some special items featured will be surf 'n turf, and a stuffed filet. There will also be a special Valentine's Day martini.

The restaurant is featuring its Hearts on Fire Valentine’s Week Celebration beginning today(Thursday). It will have its regular menu, including Port Edward’s signature Hemmingway’s trout receipe, along with champagne, a rose and a cold water pearl necklace all for an additional $25. Port Edward also has a sailboat in the middle of the restaurant’s pond that is a favorite place for romantic dinners and proposals. While this weekend is booked, you can reserve it for your special occasion. It seats up to six people.

The restaurant is hosting a Valentine’s Day wine dinner on Friday, Feb. 11 and Thursday, Feb. 17 featuring a six course meal with selected wines for each course. The price is $65 per person. It will have dinner specials, including pancetta wrapped monkfish, on Saturday, Feb. 12 to Valentine’s Day. On Tuesday, Feb. 15, it’ll be Pour Your Heart Out Valentine’s Day special with half-off all bottled wines.

This is a throw back, an old fashioned drive-in that may not seem romantic, but, it could be if you use your imagination. Order a milkshake with two straws or order the special chili Coney dog and each one of you can eat from the ends until you’re done. The restaurant also has a red velvet blast made with ice cream and red velvet cake.
